1. What level should my child be in?

2. What is the student - teacher ratio?

Our preschool aquatics classes are typically 5:1 and our learn-to-swim levels 1 - 3 are 6:1.

3. What happens if I miss a lesson? Can I make it up?

We will not make up any lessons you miss. If the Hoover Recreation Center cancels lessons due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. weather, pool contamination, etc.), we will make up the class the following Friday at its regular time.

4. How do I register?

To register for swim lessons, you must be a Hoover Resident with a current membership to the Recreation Center. Your child must have at least a $25 program pass to the Recreation Center to be eligible for swim lessons. You may register at the front desk of the Recreation Center or you may register online at webtrac.ci.hoover.al.us
To register online you will need your username and password. For first time users, your username is your household ID number (located on all Hoover Recreation Center receipts in the top right corner) and your password is your zip code. If you are unsure about your username you may call the front desk at 205-444-7703.

5. What should I bring for lessons?

Your child will need to wear an approved bathing suit, towel and goggles if necessary.

6. Can my child practice before or after his/her lesson?

Your child may only practice after lessons if he/she has a full membership to the Recreation Center and there are open swim lanes available. Access to the pool is limited to your child's swim lesson time if your child has a Program Pass.

7. Do I need to get in the water with my child?

Parent/Child Aquatics is the only swim lesson class that requires a parent in the water during the lesson.
